Training for Individuals

Open (public) courses


We offer regular Open (public) programmes in Advanced Negotiation Skills across South Africa (and the rest of the World, click here to find an office near you).    This format is ideal for individuals, or where it is not possible for groups of 12 members of one company to be in training in the same week, or if organisations wish to trial the programme before a roll-out across the business.  The Next Steps programme will be available in South Africa from June 2012.


Many of our Open (public) Course participants enjoy the opportunity to work with people from other backgrounds, roles and organisations. We only accept up to  four people from each organisation onto each Open (public) course, to ensure that a diverse mix of people is represented.


The Advanced programme courses which are intenisive, practical and fun  typically run:

Tuesday          7:45 - 19:00

Wednesday    7:45 - 19:00

Thursday         7:45 - 14:00

We take a maximum of 12 participants with two Scotwork tutors, which provides for plenty of personal feedback, and allows delegates to spend 80% of their time in practical activities.

What you will learn on the Scotwork Advanced Negotiation Skills programme

 

The course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to manage complex negotiations in a professional, ethical, and competent manner, and to drive better deals in situations where long term relationships are important. The course allows participants to:

• Understand the structure underlying all negotiations

• Identify the appropriate skills used for negotiations

• Practise these skills in a constructive learning environment

• Deliver a measurable improvement in performance

 

A place on an Advanced Negotiation Open (public) course in South Africa costs R15,875.00 excluding VAT.


What you will learn on the Scotwork Next Steps  Programme.  Available in South Afirca from June 2012

 

The Next Steps course provides participants with an in depth knowledge of the strategic implications of negotiating in long term commercial business relationships. The course is only available to participants who have already been through the Advanced Programme with Scotwork, and have since had 6 months to practise the skills learnt. The course allows participants to:


•    Reinforce and build upon their negotiating skills


•    Understand new tools for more effective preparation


•    Consider the broader strategic negotiating picture


•    Introduce the "IDEAL diagnostic" to analyse progress in the negotiation


•    Understand buyer and seller behaviour patterns to ensure that the correct negotiating strategies are adopted


•    Develop the use of concessions


•    Provide responses to common negotiating tactics


•    Create their own "Next Steps Blueprint"


•    Get personal feedback from the course leaders

 

A place on a Next Steps Open course in the South Africa costs R19,500.00 excluding VAT.

Our Negotiators

Derrick O'Hagan

Derrick O'Hagan started Scotwork in South Africa in 1992. Since then the company has grown from 8 programmes in the first year to running in excess of 60 programmes per year.

Kevin Tessendorf

Kevin joined Scotwork South Africa in 1996 after a career in management in the engineering and food service industries.
